Ida Santana, MD
Dr. Ida Santana was born and raised on the largest commune in the country, The Farm, in Summertown, Tennessee. Her mother continues to practice midwifery with The Farm Midwives.
Dr. Santana attended medical school at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, from 1996 through 2000. In 2000 she moved to New York City and completed a Pediatrics Residency, and was then Chief Resident in Pediatrics at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan. Dr. Santana then did two years of a Palliative Medicine Fellowship.
She then completed an Internal Medicine Residency, and for the past two and half years has been an in-patient Palliative Medicine consultant, and is now a full-time Hospitalist at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. She is triple boarded in Pediatrics, Palliative Medicine, and Internal Medicine. Dr. Santana is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Her interest in Integrative Medicine includes developing a Wellness Program for the Internal Medicine Residents at Beth Israel to prevent burnout.
She is also trained in Reiki and practices yoga.
