Naomi Lam, MD

Dr. Lam was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She studied biology at Stanford, and received her M.D. from Tufts.  During her psychiatry residency at U.C. San Francisco, she studied transpersonal psychology with an amazing faculty mentor, and became interested in the field of integrative medicine.  While gestating her daughter, she studied medical acupuncture, and while experiencing the joys and challenges of the first two years of motherhood, she completed the Integrative Medicine Fellowship with the Bravewell Class of 2008.

Recently, she contributed to the textbook "Integrative Women's Health", edited by Drs. Victoria Maizes and Tieraona Low Dog, beloved faculty at the University of Arizona.  She presented on integrative approaches to depression at the 2010 Integrative Mental Health Conference in Phoenix.

Currently, Dr. Lam has a volunteer faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry at U.C. San Francisco.  She very much enjoys teaching medical students, and has been thrilled to note that students are very interested in integrative medicine.  She is working to introduce integrative approaches to depression, anxiety, and stress at a public mental health crisis clinic in San Francisco, and also maintains a small private practice. She looks forward to continued involvement in the Center for Integrative Medicine's efforts to teach, explore, and practice integrative medicine.
