Diana Drake, RN, WHCCNP
Diana Drake is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in women’s health care. She earned her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1983 and worked in Obstetrics and Gynecology for seven years in a midwife practice within an urban teaching hospital and in private practice. Her Nurse Practitioner training was completed in 1990 through a combined program of the University of Minnesota and Planned Parenthood of Minnesota. She is a NP at the Uptown Community Clinic in Minneapolis where she serves a diverse population of uninsured or underinsured patients in an urban setting. She has a strong interest in access to health care for the underserved female patient with a clinical focus in the management of precancerous cervical lesions and the development of cancer and cardiovascular screening programs for low-income women over 40. Her work over the last several decades has included clinic management and ownership, grant writing and fundraising for clinic programs and teaching nursing students and medical residents in clinical gynecology.
Diana has a special interest in working with alternative and complementary therapies in women’s health and the underserved population. For the past 11 years she has taught yoga and its therapeutic applications as well as relaxation, breathing and stress reduction techniques. She is a certified Lyengar Yoga instructor and has studied twice for extended periods in India. She regularly leads yoga retreats and workshops.
